Asia Regional Programming Competition (CCPC): Innovation Surges as Chinese Programmers Shine Again
In October 2023, the Asia Regional Programming Competition (CCPC) concluded successfully, attracting top programming talents from across Asia to explore the forefront of computer science. This edition of CCPC reached an unprecedented scale, bringing together thousands of university programmers from various Asian countries for intense competition. Participants showcased their programming talents on the stage, vying for the opportunity to represent their countries in the International Collegiate Programming Contest.
CCPC's regional qualifiers unfolded in different regions, selecting outstanding teams to advance to the finals. Each regional competition was a fierce test, with teams undergoing rigorous selection processes to qualify for the finals.
This year's CCPC covered topics spanning algorithms, data structures, artificial intelligence, and other areas, providing participants greater challenges. Teams engaged in intense competition, writing efficient algorithms to solve real-world problems, and showcasing innovative thinking.
CCPC has consistently adopted the ACM-ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest) format, including:
Many problem topics cover algorithms, data structures, graph theory, dynamic programming, and more.
Participants solve as many programming problems as possible within a specified time frame, with the number of problems solved and the solving time determining their final rankings.
CCPC comprises two stages: regional qualifiers and the finals. Regional qualifiers are held in various countries and regions, with the winners earning the opportunity to compete in the finals for higher honors.
Tsinghua University's team, led by Lu Chen, secured the gold medal at the 2023 CCPC Asia Regional, triumphing over Seoul National University's Kim Chung Do and Nihon University's Sanada Hiroyuki.
Past gold medalists from China have demonstrated outstanding and specialized performances within the industry. Ji Fan the fourth edition gold medalist, contributed to China's National Computer Research Group, driving technological advancements. Wang Wenxiong, the seventh edition gold medalist, independently developed an intelligent human-machine interactive hospital visitation system, successfully addressing challenges in China's medical system and benefiting over 700 million people. Li Chengxin, the eighth edition gold medalist, immersed himself in the field of education, holding a position at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and nurturing the next generation of computer scientists.
CCPC profoundly enhances competition standards, inspires academic enthusiasm, fosters research and innovation, and creates a positive programming community.
